Rehab Team
Supervising Veterinarians
In the state of Wisconsin there must be a direct referral to one of our supervising veterinarians to allow rehabilitation for your pet. This insures that pets are candidates for rehabilitation and that underlying medical concerns have been addressed. We will work closely with your pet’s primary Doctor to ensure an integrative and “whole body” approach to your pet’s rehabilitation therapy. Please ask your veterinarian for a referral or call and we can facilitate helping get your friend back into action!
Dr. Deanna Clark, Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapis
t and DVM. We are delighted to be able to offer Dr. Deanna’s expertise as a veterinarian and certified rehabilitation therapist. This allows her to diagnose difficult to find lameness’s, in addition to care for routine postoperative, obesity management, osteoarthritis management and neurological conditions. Her interest in rehabilitation started with her late 14 year old husky that wasn’t responding to traditional medications or acupuncture for severe osteoarthritis. Sadie taught her all about the benefits of rehabilitation therapy and how it can add such quality and quantity to our old friends’ lives. Her interest in sports medicine comes from an active lifestyle of running and backpacking and in the winter she can most often be found ski-joring with her 2 Pointers and Alaskan Husky. They continually teach her the importance of balanced conditioning and rehabilitation therapy as involved in injury prevention and acute treatment.

Dr. Sarah Kalstrup graduated from the UW-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. She began her career as a mixed animal veterinarian at Brodhead Veterinary Medical Center providing regular and emergency care for horses, cows, dogs and cats. In 2005 she was given the opportunity to help start the small animal clinic at Green Pastures Veterinary Service in Monticello, Wisconsin. Starting in 2007 she spent two years gaining experience in an emergency and critical care practice, and joined Westside Family Pet Clinic in 2009. Dr. Kalstrup is dedicated to ensuring that people feel involved and informed regarding the care and treatment of their animals. She has a strong interest in pet nutrition and integrative care including veterinary rehabilitation. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her husband Tom, daughter Waverly, their black Labrador (Angus) and cat (Cat). Her personal interest in rehabilitation therapy grew this fall when Angus had to go through athroscopy (to diagnose) and intense rehab (to treat) a shoulder/elbow injury that threatened to end his hunting career. We are happy to report that Angus was able to complete a trip to South Dakota after 12 weeks of rehab and successfully hunt!
Technicians, Assistants and Fitness Trainers
Nicki, CVT, graduated from Horizon School of Veterinary Assisting in 2005 and became a CVT in 2009. She worked at the Fox Valley Animal Referral Center for 5 1/2 years in the emergency department and as a surgical technician. This experience helps her to fully understand the intricacies in rehabilitating post operative patients at 4 Paws. She plans on attending the CRI courses soon. It’s her goal to have patients be comfortable and feeling like new. She enjoys spending time with her husband Matt, their 2 cats(Turbo and Fergie) and their dog (Cosworth). Nicki’s own dog Cosworth also got to experience the underwater treadmill to help rehabilitate a fractured leg from being shot! (Prior to his adoption by Nicki.)
Amy, Vet Assistant, has been working in the veterinary field for over 5 years. As a certified massage therapist she is able to aptly apply her skills to dogs and cats. She can find those trigger points easily and gently melt them away with her educated hands. She is also interested in canine sports medicine as she too leads an active outdoor lifestyle.
Beth is our lead fitness trainer at 4 Paws and helps make sure that any rehabilitation dogs that “graduate” back to fitness groups stay healthy and injury free. Beth has a black lab named Wicked and both her and Wicked spend much of their days with our fitness dogs.
