Veterinary Rehabilitation & Injury Prevention
Canine Rehabilitation Therapy is similar to physical therapy in people. Like people, there are endless conditions that can and will benefit from rehabilitation therapy. Following a consultation/exam by our team, we can then establish our rehab goals and make a rehab plan to achieve them.
Dr. Deanna Clark, CCRT and Dr Sarah Kalstrup will supervise progress and insure that proper referral etiquette is followed at all times by keeping your veterinarian informed & involved while your pet is in rehab. We work closely with your veterinarian or surgeon on pain management protocols and ensure that any other health concerns are addressed that may impact recovery or exercises.
A rehabilitation exam/consultation is vital to establish a client-patient relationship (limited to rehab), identify all rehab related problems, verify adequate pain management, and fully involve client in rehab plans/goals. The cost of the initial rehab exam and first rehab introductory session is $125. Sometimes this is all people will elect to do–and the information we provide you from one visit may be enough to conduct a rehabilitation program at home! We also work to educate on injury prevention–so this may be a way to get to know your dog’s body in a way to detect injuries early or prevent them all together!
Following your pet’s rehab exam, Dr. Clark, CCRT will recommend a rehab session package based on our findings, your schedule, and the availability of our rehab therapists.
The use of the underwater treadmill, therapeutic (cold) laser, massage, focused exercises, therapuetic ultrasound, incline treadmill, electrical stimulation are all modalities that we use at 4 Paws Swim & Fitness.
We will do everything possible to accommodate your busy schedule and stay on time. Our goal is to help your pet regain their former vitality, strength or control pain as soon as possible.
4 Paws Swim & Fitness is dedicated to providing integrative care for your pet in a safe and thorough manner. Injury prevention, ideal weight, evidence based nutrition and supplements are also part of that integrative care.
According to the Wisconsin Veterinary Practice Act veterinary rehabilitation can only take place by direct referral from your veterinarian to one of our rehab/integrative care DVM’s. You can discuss referral with your veterinarian or call us and we can help facilitate getting your loved one back in action!

We look forward to helping you get your canine (or feline) back in action!
